09. Rear Bulkhead Sides
Laying out the bulkhead side rails required numerous clamps and lot of measuring. It is important to be accurate when constructing a sub-assembly like this because any misalignment will be exagerated when the the parts are joined with the rest of the chassis. The tube used along the bottom of this layout is strictly for alignment purposes and is not tack welded into the assembly. |
The cockpit side rails were tack welded as a sub-assembly and then offered up to the rest of the chassis. The sub-assembly was positioned using a corner clamp and some scrap pieces were clamped together (on the left) to keep the ackward end flush with the lower rails. |
